I think I have to agree with six pack on this one. I like running an 1/8 mile gamblers race every now and then, but I think I would prefer the 1/4 mile. OH MARIO, look what you've gone and done!!!!LOL I wonder where the idea for this thread came from? ? At least these threads are getting people talking and thinking about the season ahead, can't wait !!!!!!!!

Well ,well,,my old buddy mario, its kinda strange that you mentioned me specifically with all the other posts ,, I thought we were on here to voice an opinion but once again you have proven that if you dont get your way which you stated that if it took you a couple years you wouldnt stop till you got your way,you again act like a kid taking a temper tantrum and have to take it out on someone and belittle them on this board [/quote] First off Greggie gotta compliment you on your grammar, longest sentence I ever seen. Know what a period is? ?? Yes I am patient, not a matter of having my way just seeing the future. I am listening to all the opinions, sorry no tantrums lots of ;D 's. Evidently some people feel strongly about the subject and that is a good thing. Explanation point, good you did finish a sentence, missed that one. After all the discussion on the internet and at the track he did not bring it up, why not if it was such a concern? I have been bringing it up for the last 3 years but did not bother this year. Everyone is more then welcome to bring up anything they desire, if there is a consensus then it goes to the owners meeting but you have to be there to bring it up. Questioning the decision after the fact is ........ well useless. As I already stated PEI is an issue probably the highest on the list but MDP and Greenfield have their own issues. You are giving someone too much credit, I barely know who you are. I was in the midst of a conversation with another "racer" when someone stepped into the middle of it and stuck his hand out so I shook it. That person then started mumbling something and I finally figured out who it was. Since I have no doubts about my maturity level and your opinion is meaningless to me further conversation was a waste of breath for me. Sorry Greggie you need to try harder. ;D ;D ;D ;D

people spend all kinds of money on making their cars go faster at some point they have to be able to stop.so rather then dictate to people that they have to rune 1/8 mile all for the sake of the faster cars i think the faster cars should be required to have certain extra devises to slow them down..for example wilwood now makes a dual caliper bracket for all application rearends thereby doubling your stopping power and trippling it if your only running drum brakes, also a second parachute would be an added bonus which stroud makes a great double chute mount...just cause one track has a problem with the faster cars not being able to get stopped thereby not getting the faster cars to return to their track for that reason doesn't mean they should make all the other tracks conform to what they want....

And just how is that spare chute going to help when a heim joint breaks at the 1000' mark, or a rod gets tossed out at 3/4 track Tom??? Most all of the fast cars have better than required safety equipment, & for the most part, the racers running them are more than capable of handling their vehicle in an emergency situation. Most of the racers running these rigs also are well aware of the risks that the greater speeds create, & the possible consequences. If common sense was a prerequisite to competing in this sport, there would be some pretty sparse fields, so you're preaching to the choir here. Unfortunately, insurance companies & the like are not quite so enamored with our chosen method of annihilating massive amounts of money to raise our heart rate, & it will only take one serious injury or worse to put a serious cramp in the entire sport around here. Taking this into consideration, how about a little less chest-beating & a bit more big-picture thinking here?

i remember this past season at M.D.P. where i tried to implement a policy where cars running faster than 149.9 mph would be mandated to pull the chute. rail cars are lighter than door cars but in the event of a possible mechanical failure the chute is an "INSTANT 40 MPH" off the speed of the car. that figure came from mythbusters TV show doing control data before a automotive scenario. totally irrelevant if its a door car or rail was my thinking as it would be safer to pull the chute. well i met with opposition to such a policy from a variety of people. so after checking with both sanctioning bodies it is clear; cars faster than 150 are required to have a functioning chute. BUT THERES NO RULE IT HAS TO BE USED. dumb rule from two racing bodies that also penalized a car owner for upgrading their brakes for years in stock classes from drum to aftermarket disc setups. in the end i relented and retracted the idea of mandating the drivers to pull at 150 + because of driver opposition. it is now up to the track owners to implement their own policy on this touchy subject and it would be best to let all know early so the proper mounts can be installed and drivers can learn how to quickly and efficiently fold the laundry. i also remember a certain vehicle many years ago able to run s/p numbers with stock brakes in the 4 corners and voiced my concerns about that car as well. never saw it again for a few years but it is back and faster but now has a braking system adequate to slow it down. might have taken the hint.......
