Should have mentioned I don't think there should be an absolute limit on the ET for the Trophy class. Any ET should be fine there. I just meant the minimum for Pro should drop to 14.50 to absorb the quickest of the current Street/Sportsman class.

Lots of discussion on this subject at last night's CBDRA meeting and there were as many different opinions as there were people in the room. So now for the big question - Will anything change for 2012?
While most of this thread has centered around the S/Pro and Pro ET breaks what worries me the most is the lack of participation in the Street/Sportsman class. For proof of that just look at the 2011 ADRA Points standings. There's only 12 names in there out of ALL FOUR tracks.
Heck, I only ran 3 events, lost first round in all them and still finished halfway up the chart. At this rate soon anyone who registers will be automatically guaranteed a trophy at year's end. I think an effort to rebuild this entry level class would be more important than catering to the few racers that are clustered around that 11.49 ET break.

I've been saying that for years Don, Sportsman is the ROOTS and needs to be revitalized back in our sport.

i don't want to offend anyone by saying this, but is it possible that car counts are down in street/sportsman class because cars just aren't really that slow anymore? Alot of stock/factory cars now run well into the 13's right off the showroom floor...anything with a V-8 can usually run into the 12's with just a few simple bolt on. Even alot of the "beginners" who show up for T&T are running into the 12's with turbo'd 4 cylinder cars.

Good point - Their stuff is so fast they get dumped into Pro and become first round cannon fodder for the class veterans.

The other problem with that is that most non vetern sportsman cars are actual beginners and dont register for ADRA and therfore the ADRA standings dont give an acurate representation of the actual car counts for sportsman classes at each individual tracks but just on the few that choose to travel which are generally people travelling with other pro or s/pro cars maybe.

Since this thread hasn't been updated since early November and the Class ET breaks have now been changed I'm going to "unsticky" it.

I wonder how many of the former super pro drivers are going to step up their game , to stay in their class ? Or take their boxs out and run pro? Or if by chance any of them will take their boxes and hide them in their cars since they most likely would already have the car dialed ? Just food for thought I know it is crossing my mind.
