Hey, It's that time of year again to bring back the discussion of changing Pro & S/Pro to the Box / No box format without the annoying 11.50 Et break. ;D
In the past we talked about changing the ET Break in Pro to 11.00 and we also discussed over lapping the Et breaks between Pro & S/pro.
This time I'll suggest just going 13.49 and quicker for both classes with one class for box cars and one for no box cars. Safety requirements would remain the same as they are now...... based on the IHRA rule book for et and speed.
Heck, we have been doing it this way every Saturday for the last couple of years without any problems, and thats been with the street cars and the bike/sleds mixed in too.
Saturday's gambler races would remain the same as they are now, and Sunday's classes would basically remain the same as they are now except for the annoying 11.50 et break.

Touchy subject - I normally refuse to give an opinion on the grounds that it might start a war but here goes anyway, Keep everything the way it is - just chop a second off the ET breaks for all classes. All IHRA safety rules still apply. S/Pro- 10.49 & quicker Pro - 10.50 to 12.49 Sportsman - 12.50 to 15.49 Trophy - 15.50 and slower(no payouts/reduced entry fee)

You could ask 100 racers what they think and you'd probably get 100 different answers. But change isn't always a bad thing. My opinion would be to have the class breaks like this... S/Pro 11.49 & quicker w/box allowed Pro 10.49 - 12.49 w/no box allowed Sportsman - 12.50 - 15.49 Trophy - 15.50 and slower (no payouts & reduced entry) But heck, i'd be happy to run non-throttle stop index classes as well lol

I don't have a problem with how things are now but I like the idea of lowering the time breaks as Don mentioned above. With the Super Pro cars getting faster all the time, it would be nice to keep the class closer together. A box/no box would be fine too, but with a 13.49 and quicker time break, there would be some seven and low eight second cars sitting at the line for awhile. We ran a 9.50 and quicker class at the All Out Race in Miramichi and it was nice having all the cars within a second and a half of each other. I don't think we need to go that low, but 10.49 sounds like a good number.
