The IHRA rule book states that No car shall be raced in two classes at the same time. ( No double dipping with one car). I think you will find that rule only applies to certain races like Bracket Finals and such. Many many IHRA tracks allow double entering in their regular points races that's one rule we don't follow,we use the book for safety reasons and for some class info.We let the track say if we can run a car in 2 class or 2 drivers in one car in 2 class.

It should be noted that some tracks run a Pro-style tree for bracket racing during special "Street Racing" bracket events. Will fix the box no box issue!!!!!!!!

Maybe we should just unscrew those three yellow bulbs and throw them away - that would completely eliminate delay boxes and redlights.......

Yes I know that a lot of people are going to ask who I am as I do not race but- a lot of racers travel south to race where they run s/st, s/g or s/comp or other classes. These classes run a pro tree and if you do not have youir car dialed in to a pro tree you could be sitting in the pits looking at a timecard wondering what the f___ went wrong. I would think that any chance anyone gets to run a pro tree should be taken as a chance to learn, therfore making your chances of winning that much better. When I worked at Maitland we had classes that ran both trees and it worked very well. A bit of a nightmare for the staff of the track, but very well received by the racers.

And again the quick leaving cars would be killing the slow leaving cars. Think about someone who leaves between the 2nd and 3rd bulbs as opposed to someone who has to see the 3rd and wait a fraction. Some find it hard to beleive and this comment is in general but the current sportsman tree makes it a very level playing field for everyone.

I've come to the conclusion that a lot more discussion is still required. So far I have only received input from around 40 people. I feel it would be best to discuss this topic "person to person" with the majority of affected racers and also the individual track owners before going to any AGM. I personally don't have the time to do that before this years AGM.
Although I feel this change might be a good thing for the sport, I don't want to push the issue too much because I am not 100% sure that Atlantic Canada is ready just yet.
Unless someone else decides to bring it up at this years AGM, I am already planing to race against the box cars for 2012. ;D

Let's look at the size of the classes under the current setup - Super/Pro has huge numbers, Pro seems to be growing and since Street/Sportsman is all but dead let's just pull the plug on it and make a "Trophy" class instead. What about lowering the ET break for Pro to 14.50 to absorb the faster Street/Sportsman cars? Then the Pro field might approach the size that Super/Pro now enjoys. You could also stick an overlap in there between Super/Pro and Pro to even it out further. Anything slower than 14.50 can then run for a trophy instead of a payout which also means they will pay less $$ to enter. That little incentive alone might attract some of the Test and Tune bunch that usually only show up on weeknights.
I'm sure someone will be quick to point out obvious reasons why the above scenario won't work but just remember this is only one old guy's thoughts on the subject. Unfortunately I also truly believe NOTHING will ever change in the current class structures but it sure would be nice to be proven wrong on that one.

Sounds like a good idea but aren't alot of the cars that show up for the T&T, turbo'd imports that are running alot faster times?
