Wow, Great site Don. Should answer a bunch of Stuart's questions, & it will be a good read for a lot of other folks as well. I agree with Mario, that 5 1/4" meausurement seems very (too) low, & the setup should be completed with a proper sized drag slick, because I don't think that you'll ever actually use a roadrace slick Stuart (they are useless in a straight line application), & even if you did, your eventual replacement would more than likely be a much larger diameter drag slick which would definately compromise all of your initial work.

Mario - I agree, the 30"-32" tall slick would best. If I set the bars at the same degrees for a 30" tire I would gain 1.5" to 6-3/4" from the floor. My plan was to set the rear for the tire height I plan to run - then when I cut the front off next year I can basically make my rear frame a "clip", keep it at the original height it was and weld the new front clip to it having the front end of the truck much lower - hopefully (as money allows ofcourse.) Sound feasable??? I'm just trying to get my bar angles in the range that seems to be the concensus here.
Bernie - The slicks I got from Keith are more of a help for mockup than to use - gives me something for width and a visual. I'd have to buy wheels for them just to be useful in 07 so that would be pointless for a little bit of use before I buy new slicks/wheels. I'll sit down and read that site after supper...thanks Don. Keep the good input coming - I might get this right/ready for 07 yet....LOL

I feel the same way when I drive our P.O.S chebby service truck at work.... .... ;D Mario, you say your car sqauts about 3", how much clearance would you think I'd want between the frame rail and 4 link brackets on the axle? I'll set my axle tonight for a 30" tall tire and see how things look.

hey stu learn from my mistakes you can not set any thing till you know ride height tire size ect my ranger is tube from front to back it is 111in wheel the engine is set back 14in there is 32/12.5 tires on back with a 20in frame it is ladder bar the 9in rear end is 38in flange to flange the one thing i have found out is that you can not guess at anything if you are going to you a 30-32 in tire than do like we did fine a junk set than fine a rim to fit if not all your effort will be a waste and will cost you 3*as much and do not forget you will have to put some kind of cage in it if you want a couple of ideas drop by the shop. woody

Ok, I set my axle up for a 30" slick, set my bottom bar to 0*, the top bar is 12* in the 3rd hole from the top in the frame bracket. I drew my frame rail on bristle board - I gave 4" of clearance between my frame and axle brackets. The DR7855B QA1 shocks in the above ebay link should fit perfect. With the frame drawn as I have it now my shock length at ride height would be about 15".
Mario - you mentioned that I should raise the front end of my bottom bar - if I do this I would have to lower my front bracket to achieve 0*. With the axle set at a 15" centerline my brackets are 7-5/8" from the floor. I was under the impression that the leading edge of the frame bracket would be best at 90* straight up and down - is this the case?
Woody - an Art Morrison 8pt roll bar kit is going in this winter. $195US plus shipping and it's made to fit the 94.

I bit the bullet and started cutting my frame pieces tonight. I gave myself 6" of clearance over the axle brackets and I'll be going with shocks in the center of their travel at 15-1/2" in length. They have about 6" between compressed and released states. Should have some pic's tommorow night. It's setup for a 30" tall tire, the frame will be 20" wide....Good hook or bad - I'll just be happy to be at the track beating on this thing no matter how well/crappy it runs.
