Wasn't going to take on any big projects this winter and tinker with my car and a few things in shop and house. But since my block is a souvenir I need to raise some funds. Cris who owns the car is a friend of Dave Mackinnon's and Dave arranged it between Chis and I for me to put air ride under this car. Car is a 50 Ford, I'm sure there is a name for the body style but I have no idea what it is. I did some work on this car many many years and several owners ago. I wish I could say it was all Ford but afraid not, dizzy is right at the firewall. ;D ;D ;D ;D Chris is using a Ridetech kit under the rear of the car, triangulated 4 link with an airbag shock. Airbag shocks going up front too. Spent some time the last 2 weekends taking stuff apart and figuring out where everything will go. Had hoped to have the kit this weekend but unfortunately not. So out in the shop putzing around and though I would take some pics. Side view of where the wheel will sit at the back, the kit has a ton of ride height adjustment with 3 holes at each end of the shock mount. Idea would be to get the shock at a certain length at ride height and lower it for parking or crusing shows. I have the rear end hung with mufflers clamps and a tab going to the frame. This holds the rear end at what we figure will be ride height and at the right wheel base. Pinion angle is set so I can position 4 link brackets and weld where it is. At the front the air bag shock bolts in where the original was but a bunch of clearance needs to be carved out for the air bag. Dirty job under there with an angle grinder, worst was removing the spring pocket up in the crossmember. ;D ;D ;D The tabs that locate the original springs have to come off for clearance in the shock. Hopefully the kit will show up this week and make some progress over the holidays

Very cool Looks like a modified Business Coupe, I like the door changes and the deleted quarter glass. A buddy of mine had a '49. I'm lowering my 56' F100, but just doing it the old fashioned way, nothing fancy. Look forward to seeing some updates. I used to be all about the muscle cars, but I've gained an appreciation for the curves of the 50's!

It's a shoebox Ford, too bad about the chevy parts. ..... This is my kinda shoebox Ford. One day I will build a 40's or 50's Ford/Mercury custom....I love old school customs, not a big "billet" fan.

Parts showed up today. Gotta say so far I really like the quality of the parts. Very rugged, good design and execution of the components. The real test will be installing them but looks good so far. The shocks, larger are for the front. It was hard to tell looking at internet pics but the threads on them were a pleasant surprise. Between the mounting on the rear and the thraeds the ride height will be very adjustable. Some nice hardware for mounting the tops of the front shocks, ridetech really did their homework designing the base shocks so it could go anywhere. Not crazy about the 2 5/16 bolts that hold the bottom of the shock to the control arm but it has stood the test of time. Triangulated 4-link kit, heavy direct threaded tubing and 1/4 steel brackets, nice and rugged and well bullt. Rear upper shock mounting kit, pc of tube thru the frame with brackets, nice mounting hardware on both ends. The pc of alum i the pic is the lower mount which can adjust a few inches each way on the bottom bracket. Nicely done Air system, tank lines, wiring, again looks well done and easy to install Dash mounted controller and solenoid pack that goes in the trunk. Compressor is not here yet but on its way. Hoping to make some progress Fri and Sat before the festivities start. Merry Christmas to everyone
