I would prefer the 1/4, more seat time considering the over all cost per seconds of fun. ;D

I have raced 1/8 mile on the Island a couple of times .... I dont mind it too much . Its nice to put a 9 second dial on my slow buggy. lol Another thing 1/8 mile might do is reduce crashes and the normal wear and tear on vehicles. But at the same time , I like the 1/4 . 1/8 mile would take some getting used to for sure . If the change were made . Isn't there an 1/8 mile track in Maine that some Maritimers attend ?

From the Maritime Drag Racing Inbox:
Normally I don't respond to the discussions on here. I have never actually. But regarding 1/8th mile racing my vote is a big No!!!!!! I've raced 1/8th mile in the states and even P.E.I. and do not like it. I would rather run at a 1/4 mile track if I had to choose. C. Leeman

I would agree that 1/4 mile is definately my preference . Hard to say where this will end up ....

I just bought a car to drag race 1/4 mile at at time not an 1/8 mile. my vote is "NO" to 1/8 drags. As a spectator for years it is boring to watch 1/8 mile also I don't want to change my plans for my car.

Looks like we found another hot topic on our message board! I also prefer racing the 1/4 mile but don't really have much to compare it to, I only ever raced the 1/8 mile once in the mid 80's. I definitely wouldn't be selling my car if it ever did happen. I hate change as much as anyone, but my love for drag racing would help me to keep finding my way to the track...1/8 mile or not!! I may even run down to Winterport in the spring and try it out, and get my chassis cert done at the same time...lol.

Lots of the infamous line "that's the way it has always been!!!!!" and "I don't want to change!!!!" ;D ;D ;D 1000 feet may have potential as a stepping stone to going 1/8 mile. 330 more feet of stopping room and less MPH. Have heard the arguement that the cars will end up going the same mph at the 1/8, takes a major HP increase to gain that 30 mph before the 1/8. HP is cheap but not sure it is that cheap. The fast cars being discussed also do not gain that much from a gear change. Lot of people I talk are just waiting for the "big one!!" to happen somewhere. Couple of hints over the last couple of years as to how bad it can be but thankfully those people walked away with out major injury. Internet poll, hummmm don't think so. Too many minus's to that. "Closed doors" conspiracy theories!!!! Greg you live what 15 minutes max from where the meeting was. Enough interest to blast the people involved but not enough to show up at the meeting and bring up the subject. Typical non-racer internet BS.

Can't wait to see Straightbackwards response to this thread. ;D I did like having the 1/8 mile racing every now and then. So it doesn't matter to me whether we race 660',1000', or 1320'. Mario, I expect you will see more before this thread is over. ;D
