I bought a Cervini fiberglass hatch for my 87 Mustang project, a steal at $170. ;D (almost $900 retail)....I need a window for it so I was going to put lexan in place. Best to make my own template and go the home fabbed root or go with an aftermarket unit? I was told I could get a 4x8 sheet of 1/8" Marguard in Burnside for $130, the old hatch should pay for it. I'm going to sell the factory GT style hatch that's on it now and run it with no spoiler.

Worst part about that stuff is it's hard to see through after a couple of years. The factory glass might be heavy but it's right over the rear tires......

I was thinking about that but my glass guy said they can be a PITA to get out....He said the marguard type is much more resistant to scratches.. .....I'm keeping the glass windshield. The car has about a 15 gallon fuel cell, if that was full it would add good weight. It has full tubular control arms in the rear with adjustable uppers. I was planning on some new Strange rear adjustable shocks too. A new pre-cut window is about $260 plus shipping from Harwood.

He was trying to remember off the top of his head but he said if I wanted some he would buy it for me to save me some money. I've used him for a few windshields and we use them at work too. I'd like to eventually see all the but windshield done in Lexan....I have an iron headed 468 to compensate for....LOL ;D

Make sure to check the rule book to see what the min thickness is and make sure to fasten it in with screws as well as urathane as urathne alone will not stay with the lexan, they fly out.

1/8" is the minimum spec in the rule book, but for large windows like the windshield and hatch it may need to be supported through the middle so it doesn't flop around. In the Vega, I'm going to use 3/16"(sold as 5mm) which is 37lb/4'x8' sheet instead of the 1/8"(3mm) at 25 lbs/sheet. I can get all the windows except one quarter window out of one sheet of Lexan.

Spencer, I might able to fix you up with a piece to get your last window if I buy the lexan by the sheet.

Anyone around here got a hatch Mustang or similar with a lexan rear window? I'd like to see one in person to see how it was fit and fastened if possible. I was given a price of $150 a sheet for 3/16" lexan, $260 for Marguard this week.
