Hi,
I am hoping that someone can help me in getting information about a car that I sold back in 1982. While cleaning up, I found the ad and documentation for the car that I purchased in 1981. It was a 1970 Ford Mustang Mach I with a 428CJ engine and C4 transmission. I posted the old ad to Mustang Atlantic Maritime and someone said that it might be a drag car in the 80s called "Prime Timer". Does anyone know anything about this car?
Thanks
Ron

Hi Ron,
I don't recall a '70 Mustang 428 from that era named Prime Timer, but there were still quite a few musclecars being raced in the early to mid '80s. If there is any additional info that you can provide it might help tweak my memory or the memory of others. I'm assuming it was an uncut street car (in other words not tubbed or gutted for racing)? What colour was it? In the early '80s the Maritime tracks were Pennfield, PEI, and Sackville (Maitland replaced Sackville in mid '86), do you know which track(s) it may have been raced at? A lot of NB based cars only raced at Pennfield, same deal for NS cars and Sackville, or PEI cars at Oyster Bed. Knowing which track it raced at would be helpful.
Wouldn't a 428 powered Mustang have come with a C6 rather than a C4?
Best of Luck with your search, sounds like a cool car.
Jeff

Hi Jeff,
You are right, it was a C6. The car was originally orange. The car was sold without the engine (the engine is still in the family) so it could have been raced with any engine. It was sold as a street car (uncut). I do have the VIN so if anyone has a 70 Mustang Fastback.

Hi Ron,
You still haven't mentioned where it might have been raced, Sackville, Maitland, PEI, Pennfield, or Miramichi, or at more than one. The more information that you can provide the better the chances that your old car can be located.
Tom Forsythe from the Pictou NS area built a tribute to his Twisted Hemi '70 Mustang Boss 429 NHRA Stocker that he raced in the late '70s/early '80s here in the Maritimes. It's a longshot, but someone from that area that raced with Tom might be able to confirm where the '70 Mustang that he used to build the replica came from.

Hi Jeff,
I don't know where it might have been raced. I was only told that this might be the car when I posted to one of the local Mustang facebook groups.
