Had an amazing weekend at Cape Breton Dragway and have a bunch of thanks to say first.Top of the list is my brother Albert, his truck and trailer makes it possible for me to get to the track plus countless other things he does to help me out. Had his 2018 Dodge with the diesel, it is loaded so riding in luxury and the passing power needs to be experienced, what a monster of a truck.
Dave MacKinnon for putting my fiberglas back together, making it look so good and has always supported me any way he could. On that front I have to thank Lennie Nicholson for pushing me to fix it and Jason Vallis for making sure I took every little piece home.
John MacKinnon, Pug Smith and lots of others for the help and support.
CB always feels like a home track to me and this weekend was no different. From the big welcome hug at the gate and everybody making us feel so welcome. Going out of their way to make sure we were able to do what we needed to do.
Track surface was incredible, sun shining and 30+ degrees the track deserved to be crap but it was there all weekend. 10 runs on saturday, 60s went from 1.297 to 1.311!!! Roy Matthews will say it is the Hoosier tires LOL but they certainly did work well. Chassis setup like I ran for years and I did not touch anything. Nervous guy sitting in there Fri evening, real easy first pass then full tilt, not a twitch, just the same car it always was, straight as an arrow and drive with one hand.
Albert had his new car there, picked up a 1994 Cobra in Quebec last fall. 434 Windsor power, 9 inch with small tubs, the TH400 is a little unfortunate LOL but after some chassis tuning it ran a 6.35 with retarded timing and a real easy foot brake leave. Looking for 6.20s and mid 9s when he starts leaning on it. Beautiful car and he is a happy camper, full interior, mufflers and power windows. He says he is tired of loud tinny race cars!!
Runner up in box for me was a lot more luck than good racing, same old story the car is a whole lot better than the driver. LOL Started cutting some lights and was with Jason at the tree in the final but didnt watch the DA and went under. Going to take some time to get the finish line skills back, .029 MOV used to be embarrassing. LOL Congrats to Jason, he had a good weekend
Cant wait to go racing again, hopefully see a lot of you at Miramichi this weekend
