The first event of the 2014 Atlantic Pro Tree Series is in the books. Even though it was a cool and breezy day, 32 cars were on the property for the event. There were a lot of new combinations and racers scrambling to figure out the numbers, but everybody managed to get things sorted out, and put on a good display of heads up racing.
Don Auffrey was presented with his custom built Greg Samuel FTI converter which he earned from last seasons series, and Dwight Cummings with his beautiful new ride was the recipient of the aluminum floor jack presented by Bill Clark and Trans World Distributing. Bill will be providing prizes for each event to be drawn for from the registered competitors. Many thanks go out to Bill and Greg for continuing to support our series, as well as all the other series sponsors. Without you it wouldn’t be possible. Please support them when you can.
After two qualifying shots, Jim Green was on top of the ladder in Quick Rod, Ray Bourque in Super Rod and James Cowie lead the pack in Hot Rod, each earning a plaque and cash prize for their efforts.
When the dust settled it was Trevor Cowie taking home the top spot in Quick Rod with his shiny new ride over Jim Green in the deadly new Altered. The Islanders took top spots in Super Rod with Glenn Maclean edging out the ever dangerous Josh Goodwin, and Hot Rod saw more Islanders taking home the cash with those pesky Ramsey boys topped Hot Rod with Chad beating out Brett in the finals.
All in all over $3000.00 was paid out on Saturday. For anyone that has not entered in the series yet, this is some pretty serious prize money. I know there are many more cars that can run the numbers, and a few more that just weren’t quite ready yet. Hope to see even more entries out for the next event scheduled for July 05th at Greenfield Dragway.
