Hello, First off, I would like to thank everyone who came out to race at the Greenfield Dragway season opener with our new auto-start system. Everyone made it look easy! As a starter, I have to say that I love the system. It allows us considerably more time to concentrate on the safety of the racers and how each pass is going. However, the new system has moved the issue of courtesy staging into a new level of priority. The system will begin its sequence with three bulbs lit, so the second person in is under the gun to stage when the first racer (who has lit both bulbs) in is not. To help keep everything fair and sportsman-like, please remember to courtesy stage. On this same subject, if an opponent double-bulbs, do not move forward to pre-stage: Stay put and give us a chance to back your opponent out of the stage beams so that you can both move forward in a courteous manner. If you pre-stage, the sequence will automatically begin without us being able to correct the problem. Now, of course, there is one exception: deep staging. It is up to you to check to see if your opponent has DEEP written on their car. If so, they are permitted to double bulb and then move in to deep stage when you stage.
Your assistance in this regard will be greatly appreciated! If you have any questions, please let me know!

Well Keith that's a great post for sure. That could also be printed on and passed along to every racer coming through the gates. Seriously, there's some that know, but many are uncertain at times, and this will clear things up very well. This is a topic that can explain the great sportsmanship of drag racing as well as making the whole show, just a little polished. Thumbs up !!!

I've "stickied" and edited this thread so there's no excuse for anyone not knowing about the autostart system in effect at the Maritime tracks this year. Thanks to Keith for explaining it so well.
