Well we've just enjoyed some great weather with the arrival of the Victoria Day weekend and the Atlantic Canada drag racing season. The committements of my work meant I'd be spending the weekend in Cape Breton so I stayed with the race theme by working on the 2012 version of the Cape Breton Dragway Quick 8 Event.
To start, we would like to announce that IDEAL Electric has once again stepped up assist the CBDRA to provide sponsorship for the 2012 event. Ideal has always been a great supporter of Cape Breton Dragway as well as the Top Dragster of Doug Wrathall, and the Quick 8 Event is grateful for their continued assistance.
A couple of changes for 2012, the Quick 8 competitors will all be granted a total of five qualifing attempts over Friday July 20 and Saturday July 21st. The lowest ET over the 5 attempts will also be awarded the number one qualifier position.
For Sunday, the Quick 8 competitors will compete in the Quick 8 Bracket Eliminator with a ladder based on qualifing times. The Quick 8 entrance fees will provide 100% of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place payouts.
With these changes, the Quick 8 committee was looking at the potential of hosting the fastest and quickest side by side racing, ever seen at Cape Breton Dragway. This will be the 5th Quick 8 Event for Cape Breton Dragway and we've seen some pretty fast machines laying down some pretty impressive numbers. If your car can run the numbers, we would love to include you in the 2012 show.
Here's an early peek at the 2012 event poster.
And here's a shot of the Wrathall dragster taking a big slice out of Cape Breton Dragway.
