Peter Hobart and his 1966 Chevy II have been touring the race tracks of Atlantic Canada for almost ten years now.
Last season was especially tough on the Hobart team, since the team leader, was sidelined by a racing incident. It was an incident of significant stature, and it had left Hobart and his Chevy II in less than the pristine condition, they once were. Peter Hobart and his 3 car team, is well known for being the cleanest as well as the most consistent performers and any track they visit.
There was never any doubt, once Peter was mended back to good health; it was then time to turn the Chevy II back to health as well. Although a major reconstruction would lie ahead, Phil Holland was the expert craftsman that Peter would assign to the task. The kewl part of this project, and I'm pretty sure that it was the same Phil, a Grand Bay resident, was also involved in the original creation of this Chevy II, so he would know this car better than anyone.
From time to time we get to chat, and now Peter and his boys are pretty pumped about the progress Phil has made with the Chevy II. Cody mentioned “Phil’s doing pretty much everything all by himself, except those times when he needs a hand lifting the stuff, but he is doing a great job and we couldn't be any happier.”
Peter adds, “ I’m really happy with the way it’s coming together, we'll be on the track this summer. Should be ready for paint here in the next two or three weeks.”
Wishing you all the best with the project Peter and we can’t wait to see and hear this Chevy II roar once again. Thanks to Cody for sharing the pics of the project and to Sylvie McGraw for the Miramichi Dragway photo.
