Not sure what I got here. Looks like a Dana 44 or 60 from the removable back cover, but also has a removable third member like a 9" Ford. Was told it was a Chrysler 8.75, but they didn't have a removable back cover, and Dana's don't have a removable third member as far as I know.
Anyone know what I have here?

I'll take some pics when I get a chance. The car is at MacLean's Performance and Glenn said he's never seen one like it before. I just figured it was a Dana, but then recently learned they don't have a removable third member, so I don't know what the heck it is. Hope I don't break anything and need parts!!

Where did you get it at? I remember seeing an 8 3/4 in a drag car in CB years ago where a dana cover was glued, welded, god knows what, to the back of the housing to make it look like a dana 60. Or possibly welded onto the back of the housing to use for gaining access to the center section... I never got a real close look at it.

It came from CB. What kind of car was the one you seen. Might possibly be the same car!

So that explains it, turns out it is a Chrysler 8 3/4 with a Dana cover WELDED on to it!! Least now I know what I have if I need parts!

I did an 8 3/4 last year fot a 67 dart and the 742case actually has a bigger frt bearing than the 489case they both have the same rear bearing. the 489case has a collapsable spacer for preload and the742 uses shims for preload. 489 case is a little easier to come by.
