Upon receiving some feedback from the recent track operator's meeting, it appears that the operator's in general would support a 'Pro Tree' series similar in nature to the very successful 'Stock/Super Stock' series, with the understanding that it be a self-governed and promoted series which would be contested on the Saturday portion of the weekend's events as a complimentary event to the track's gambler's race. (and not on weekends when the aforementioned Stk/SS show is in town). A couple of years ago, Jason & Tony MacNeil promoted a 10.90 series, which as the name implies, was a heads-up series for HR & S/ST cars. The events enjoyed a good measure of success for a start-up series, but car counts fluctuated due to the limited number of racers competing in that particular venue in different locations. With the recent well documented influx of dragsters & faster door cars to our local racing community, it may be a good time to re-visit the concept, & expand upon it to encompass all three of the heads-up classes (8.90, 9.90, & 10.90). This proposal will allow any class of car competing in the event an equal opportunity for success at each race.
This could potentially be a very good addition to each track's weekend program, but very much like the Stk/SS Series, it will be up to the individual racers to get it organized & fine-tuned before it can be considered a successful & viable addition to our local racing community. The heads-up aspect of the competition will certainly add a new dimension to the program for sure!
I'm looking to hear some feedback from anyone thinking that this is something that they may have some interest in, since one of the main stipulations from the track operators is that the fields would have to be a significant enough size to merit the effort to accommodate them, which will require some meaningful commitment from the racers involved to ensure that this is a viable program.
If this is a proposal that interests you, either as an interested racer, or someone who may have an interest in helping to promote and/or administer, please contact me, either by phone or email.
