All in all, a really good weekend's racing, but unfortunately, no $$$$ coming back to Canada from this event....This Time.... In the preliminary 'Sportsman Spectacular' event, Jimmy went out the first round in Q/R, while Billy went to the third in H/R, & I did my usual (almost) perfect .499 RT nose-dive in the second round of H/R, after qualifying with again, an (almost) perfect 10.898. Did I mention that I'm beginning to get the handle that this is a sport of thousandths??? In the Big Go, Sunday's 'Tournament of Champions' on Sunday, despite some aggressive cheering from the peanut gallery, no-one made it past round one. Jim had a good package but gave up the stripe in Q/R, & Billy was set on 'kill' & picked a cherry in the first round of H/R. Excellent racing with some of the best in the business, & both guys showed why they were there. Good effort! Definately a beautiful facility, & a very well run show. A lot of cars, people & fun. Was really surprised at the lack of spectator numbers & manufacturer support at this event, but after talking to IHRA's Scooter Peaco, he indicated that it was not IHRA's or Summit's intent to make this a national event, but more an extension of the year-end ceremonies for the racers, & a Thank You gesture from Summit. At the conclusion of the event there was a lot of loot floating around for sure!! Peaco indicated that Summit is on board again next year for two more Spectaculars, both in Memphis, & I'm already planning to be attending at least one of them. How did everyone do at Maple Grove?

Glad that you guys had a good trip, Berny; here's the Pennsylvania info you requested. The Dutch Classic at Maple Grove went well last weekend too. The Maritime racers there with their cars were: Wendell Howes and his SS/AH '68 Hemi Cuda, Mark Howes and his SS/JA '71 Duster, John Armstrong and his SS/AA '69 Corvette, and Kelly MacKay and his G/SA '72 Demon. Myself and Jim Burns went there with Mark and Bill Sheppard went with Kelly, and we saw at least a dozen other Maritimers there spectating as well, so this region was well represented. Ir rained until late Friday, so the racing was squeezed into Saturday and Sunday. The Hemi Shootout was held Saturday as was Class. Wendell went 2 rounds in the Shootout and had the power to win but ultimately a tendancy for big wheelstands that couldn't be calmed down in time did him in. Mark won his class in SS/JA. On Sunday, Kelly and Wendell went out in the first round, while Mark lasted until he met up with John in the third round. John went to the final three in a field of 79 Super Stockers. All in all a good time was had by all! Here's a link to some photos of the Shootout; including some photographic evidence of how Wendell had his hands full! www.hemishootout.net/index.php?option=com_morfeoshow&task=view&gallery=27&Itemid=116
