Does anyone know what an empty GM big Block weighs (454 - 4 bolt nothing in it). I goggled it but no results. Thanks

Not sure how much it weighs........but if you drop it on your toes, it will make you say lots of bad words.

empty GM small blocks weigh 170 lbs + or - depending on the casting, I would guess a big block to be about 30 lbs more Carl

If memory serves me Faber, they are around one eighty-five to one ninety-five lbs.

Thanks Carl, Bernie, I though it might be a little heavier than that , looking at a Merlin which is 270 before boring or an Aluminum at 140, so I guess with one I'll be adding some weight and the other a little lighter.

;D -- A bare 4.25 bore 396, 427 or 454 - 4 bolt block weighs about 218 lbs, give or take a pound or two.

My reply for this is... I dont know how much it weighs.. But its gonna make a wicked gnome on my front lawn after what i did to it in Mirimachi !!
