Within an hour of my posting last week of edition #897, I discovered this first photo. Now, as a 16-17 year old I found my way to the drag strip in Sackville, NS and as far as I can figure I took this photo in either summer of '76 or '77. Now ironically, "Grampy's Duster" was the same duster (yellow) that was featured in last weeks (Edition # 897) photos. Lots of racing history there in that hot-rod. About ten years later, in 1987, the CBDRA held a drag racing demo on 8Th Street New Waterford. It was during the "Coal Dust Days" celebrations and Norm Pickrem even came down to assist us with putting on our little demonstration. The CBDRA was doing these demos in a few towns and they were actually pretty well received. Here's a couple a photos captured by my elder brother that day. Then about twenty or more years later, Doug Wrathall was pounding on one of his BBC powered hot rods. Now this photo was featured years ago in our MNP's edition #134 so it is a worthy repeat. Next, like everyone in our racing community, I still miss having Bruce Howatt around the race track and I'm so fortunate to have some pretty interesting photos of his Road Runner. Brenda's expression says it all here as Lorne Buchanan lets the button go on a Sunday at the old Sydney Airport drag strip. Moving forward to present days, here's one from this summer of Greg Roach's '67 Cuda. A pretty fine example of a nice working Mopar. And couple of Jason and Bryson MacNeil from their fun times at Cape Breton Dragway. That's my deal from today but I would like to wish each and everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Play safe and have fun. Indy
