The world of drag racing is saddened today with the news indicating the passing of Barry Paton. Pretty much everybody around our sport has several fond memories of watching Barry Paton drag racing. Barry was quite a legend around drag racing and here's a link to a 2015 DRAG RACE CANADA story by Bruce Beigler, as he celebrated his 50th year in drag-racing. BARRY PATON STORYMy own fondest memory of Barry would in involve the early years of the Cape Breton Drag Racing Association. Barry Paton was a great help to our club in those early years. One Sunday afternoon, we had assembled several drag cars for a car show in the parking lot of the Mayflower Mall. When the Paton Team arrived on site, instantly the place was really alive. I'm pretty sure everyone in attendance will have no problem remembering watching a TA/FC doing a 600 foot burnout "at the Mall". It really was quite a show. Please keep Barry and the Paton family in your thoughts and prayers. Rest in peace "Captain"
