What a weekend!!! In case you haven't heard, Cape Breton Dragway is BORN AGAIN...... What an amazing job this group of dedicated volunteers did to put this permanent facility together in just a few short weeks. What was a dream just 2 months ago for many, all became reality this past weekend when the first pair of cars left the starting line..... On behalf of the APTS we want to sincerely THANK every last person who had a hand in making this facility happen. With perfect skies the APTS Ideal Electric Race #4 was honoured to be the first series to be contested at the new Cape Breton Dragway. With over 20 competitors entered the first order of business was to draw for the 2ton jack and jack stands donated by our series sponsor Trans-World Distributing. The lucky winner was...... Spencer PhillipsWhile it might have been a couple weeks late we also did the draw from our Race 3 competitors in Pei and the lucky racer was Scott Hill (with dad John quickly claiming it.....lol)After 2 rounds of qualifying it was Greg Powers #1 in 10.90 ClassBenny Niesten #1 in 9.90 Class Mark Green #2 in 8.90 Class 10.90 With 3 of the 4 top points chasers eliminated in round 1 it gave him the opportunity he needed to jump to the top. Winner....Tony MacNeil Runner-up....Greg Powers 3rd Place.....Michael Burns 9.90 Fresh off his win in PEI, he sweeps in Cape Breton. Winner......Benny Niesten Runner-up.....Greg Powers Great job to Greg as two finals in one day is not only busy but with these competitors is a great accomplishment. 8.90 After getting a taste of a final in Pei a couple of weeks ago he wasn't long taking it to the next step. Winner.....Jim Green (someone said it was the new crew chief that made the difference)Runner-up....Jason MacNeil Points will update soon.....
