Atlantic Pro Tree Series (APTS) AGM - Meeting Minutes 20-April-2013
The APTS held its pre-season for the 2013 race season at the Moncton Coliseum (Salon C) in Moncton, NB at 2:00pm on Saturday, 20-April-2013. The following is a summary of subjects covered and decisions reached during this meeting.
· The meeting chaired Bernie Corscadden and began with Bernie thanking everyone for attending.
Trevor Cowie received his FTI Converter (custom built for his application by FTI).
Bernie thanked the new sponsors to the APTS series as well as all those returning, for their continued support.
For the 2013 APTS season, the following sponsorship announcements were made:
Trans World Distributing would be the series title sponsor (winner would be drawn from one of the three season class winners from the 8.90, 9.90 and 10.90 classes)
FTI Converters would again be providing a custom built torque converter (winner would be one of the twp remaining season class winners from the 8.90, 9.90 or 10.90 classes)
Sussex Engine would be providing a half-day dyno session (winner would be drawn from all registered APTS members)
· The 2013 season will consist of four (4) races, and one (1) optional (rain date race). There will be three individual series champions – one (1) from each class (8.90, 9.90 & 10.90). Not an overall series champion – (this will eliminate issues with particular classes having more cars, thus more points earning rounds)
Points will be awarded as follows:
10 points for attendance
10 points for each winning round – starting at round one
1 additional point for each class winner at each race
5 points for qualifying no.1 (closest to index – reaction time not counted) – each class at each race.
Qualifying Bonuses:
Plaques awarded to no.1 qualifier in each class at each race
$100 bonus will be awarded to the no.1 qualifier in each class at each race
1 point for the overall top qualifier – at each race
Points will be counted as follows:
All competition points earned at 3 of 4 races
If competitor attended all four (4) races, the 10 points for attendance at the fourth (4th) race will be included.
If there are no rainouts, the “optional race” will be run, with regular payouts, but no points will be awarded
Registration:
There will be no fees to participate during qualifying, however to enter the race, there will be a $50 fee.
Racers may enter the race (after paying the $50 fee) but will not receive any points unless they are a paid APTS member ($20 member registration) and display the series decal on their race vehicle(s)
Payouts:
It was discussed with the individuals in attendance, the method of paying out the prize money. Specifically, how may positions to pay back and after how many competitors are registered (car count).
Pay back: A vote was held to pay back 2 or 3 positions. Majority voted in favour of 3 positions
Car count: A vote was held to determine when to pack back to the 3rd position in each class. Majority voted in favour of 10 cars (vehicles).
· Regarding the starting system, there is no “Pro-Start” system currently being used by the participating tracks.
However, there will be a meeting with each track “starter” to ensure consistency when staging and the tree
being activated.
Pro-Tree starts (0.400 & 0.500):
Discussion regarding the Christmas Tree set simplified, since there would be no class run-offs.
Majority of 8.90sec class voted in favour of 0.400 tree.
10.90sec class have to run 0.500 tree, no vote necessary
In the 9.90sec class, since the majority of racers normally run Super Pro, most are set up for bracket racing.
Most race vehicles would require changes to set up to react to 0.400 tree. As well, potential “new” racers
to the class, may not want to participate with a 0.400 tree. A vote was held and the majority voted in favour of 0.500 tree. If there are sufficient number of racers in the future and the majority are in favour of going to a 0.400 tree then this decision will be reviewed.
Class Representatives:
The class representatives are as follows:
8.90 Class Representative; Lorne Buchanan
9.90 Class Representative; Josh Goodwin
