For those of you not following me on Facebook there has been yet another change of plans. Found a Saturn that is identical to our Sportsman class car which gives me loads of spare parts for it and an ideal body for that Jegster chassis. Best part of all is since it's mostly plastic and the paint is really good there will be zero bodywork once it's mounted on the chassis.

Update: April 13, 2013. Saturn #1 is still asleep under it's cover waiting for the first race. Needs serpentine belt and idler pulley off Saturn #2 before raceday. There was tons of good suspension parts and a perfect engine in Saturn #2 so we've got lots of spare parts for #1. Hopefully we won't need any of them if the car works as good as it did last season. Saturn #2 had major surgery over the winter to get ready for the Jegster chassis. All major drivetrain components have been removed and all the body panels are in dry storage since the paint on the car is almost perfect and I would like to keep it that way. Just some carpet and wiring left to strip out of the interior and then we're ready to cut the rusty floorpan and firewall out. Here's a "before and after" shot.....

Peasant Racing Update May 2, 2013.
Saturn #2 is totally stripped of everthing that could be unbolted or unclipped including all the body panels. It's ready now for sawzall or plasma cutter or air saw or grinder/zip cut or whatever we're going to need to remove the entire floorpan and firewall followed by a trial fit of the Jegster chassis.
Saturn #1 got a new fanbelt and alternator and is currently in the middle of a "performance" exhaust upgrade. Basically everything from the engine to the back bumper was toast so it all got removed. The new system will have a larger head pipe(2" vs 1. 3/4"), no catalytic converter, a new cherry bomb muffler and a larger again tailpipe(2 1/2") that will exit in front of the right rear wheel. Might not gain any measurable ET but it will sound faster LOL.
Old blue truck is soon going to get an engine transplant, one new front fender and a bunch more Tremclad. Might need some work on the rearend too but nothing too serious other than the transplant. Car trailer just needs to be licensed and I'm going to try to make a new set of ramps that are a little more "user friendly". Would not hurt to put a couple of cans of that Tremclad on the trailer too. Last but not least the pit bike has a new water bottle holder.

Still fighting the rust demons but starting to make progress on the new 18 gauge rocker boxes. Decided to use 18 gauge so I would have something substantial to weld the outriggers on the chassis to. Project is going really slow since the car is in Dad's garage and I only manage to get out there for a few hours once a week. Hindsight being 20/20 I really should have tried to find something that didn't need major rust repair to the shell. The decision to use a Saturn was because all the removable plastic body panels on the car were perfect and won't even need a drop of paint when it's finished.
