I use regular Motorcraft or Autolite plugs in my Fords from the dealer or napa. Can't go wrong with either. My engine is a 1971 block with 72 heads - my plugs are Autolite 26's. Most stock Fords that I've worked on like about 12* max base timing and 32'ish total timing. The big thing with yours is to check your total timing with the light as some of those 70's durasparks had a ton of mechanical adavance - almost too much which caused a low base timing number as a result. Is there any stickers in the engine bay with the timing spec? It might pay to freshen up that carb over the winter too. ....A good tune is essential to get a 460 into the double digit MPG's. I had an EFI 460 in my 92 F350, 5-9mpg was the norm so I took it out and replaced it with an old mechanical. 7.3 diesel.
