Here's something that I thought was pretty cool. Most of us Islanders will remember this car from the rooftop of FR McLean Motors for years. It was on the roof of a car wash for a while too before being thrown in the junkyard. A friend of mine rescued it and restored it. I was over the other day and he took me for a drive. Funny, I remember looking at that car when I was a kid, wondering how they got it up there. The old man told me they built a ramp and jumped it Duke boys style!! haha, I believed that for a long time!!
Small block Chevy power, with original wheels, brakes and rear differential. Even uses the original speedometer, although I don't think it's very accurate!
Anyone have a pic of this car on the rooftop? I've been looking online but can't find one anywhere.

i stand to be corrected on this jeff but there was actually 2 cars on the roof. the first one just turned to dust when they tried to move it. this is the second car that peter bought to restore but wound up on the roof of fr's and pei pete's car wash. pete would know more for sure. but if it is the second car it came to pei complete and running with a straight 8 and all...........

That's quite possible Jeff, maybe the car I remember as a kid is the older one. Were they the same kind of car? Do you remember how long this one was on there? This is the one that was also on the carwash.
And there was no running gear or interior at all in this one. It had FR Maclean's painted on the side, and back too I believe. It was in serious bad shape when he first took it home.
I wonder if there are any pics floating around of the car on the roof.
