Wow awesome weekend at Raceway Park, 150+ racers thru the gate, some great weather and we raced till we dropped.
Gotta get some thanks and congrats to Earle Proud, Earle is "The Man" in the tower getting the program done. We had some discussion about whether or not the Quick 32 would happen, it did and all the racing got done is good time on Sat. Even with the big fields Earle still ran the duck race which a lot of people like to get in on if they lose early in the day. Again thanks Earle for getting it done and doing it with your trademark smile.
Also have to throw out a thanks to everyone who came to help us prep the track, made light work of it Sat morning with so many to help out.
Amazing the way the weather worked out with the forecast bouncing all over the place all week before the race. None of the forecast said anything about brutal heat and humidity. Looking at the numbers I wonder why it felt so hot but the first hot weekend of the summer is always hard to get thru. I know I was beat at the end of both days.
Some congrats
Riley Green doubling up in a big way with a win Sat & Sun. This guy eats, sleeps and lives racing. Gotta give some credit to the crew chief, his father Mark, that is one busy guy at the track, 2 juniors to look after, keeping Jim in line and rolling in the big dragster. ;D ;D ;D
Jason MacNeil also doubling up, box gamblers and a S/P win for a great start on this season. Big lead in ADRA points now, may have a target on his back now. Just saying
Bennie Niesten did not take long to work the bugs out of the new car. Might be a lot more boring than the old car but I think the round wins are helping relieve that. Almost doubled up with a Quick 32 win and a S/P runner up. Think him and Jason went deep in 2 classes on Sat racking up a lot of round wins each.
Chris Pozzebon on the bike win, always like to see Chis do well. One of the nicest guys you will ever meet, always smiling win or lose but the grin was really big on Sun. Chris also runs a bit of a outside the box setup something like I do. The race vehicle looks like the rest but a close look tells a different story. No ubiquitous Suzuki for Chris, as far as I know there is a Kawi motor under that body.
Travis Livingstone getting the very first 10 sec pass out of the big Dodge. Him and Bruce thrashed hard all week to get the new engine built and in the hole. Bad fuel pressure gauge caused lots of problems. Once that got sorted the car really picked the pace, converter change on the schedule and the car will solidly be in S/P.
Chris O'Neil making the Hi-roller deal work for him, runner-up in the Quick 32 gave him a better payday than the winner. We will be doing it again before the summer is out so remember the payout when you are digging deep. Only 9 racers did the hi-roller deal but 16 or 20 would make a real nice payday.
My weekend, well lets just say the same noise the car was making after Greenfield is still there. Car and driver both need serious work before we go racing again.
Good to see a great turnout of Stk/SS cars this weekend, that series is getting some momentum. First visit by John Armstrong in many years, he may have been getting the "more drive, less talk" rule on the weekend cruising around with his grandson on their bikes. ;D ;D ;D Jensen had his buddy Brandon O'Neil at the track so I never did see him. ;D ;D So much for Chris spending quality time with Brandon, don't think he saw him from one end of the day to the other. ;D ;D ;D
Only takes me 15 minutes to drive to the track, even I can't get into trouble on the road in that short a time. ;D ;D
Corey Sprague had his Dart out this weekend, he has been working on the car for a few years. Came out of the paint shop a week ago. Big time thrash to get to the track Fri. Went rounds Sat and Sun for a very satisfying debut for Corey. Car looks great Corey, best of luck with it.
Jane Aiten making progress getting a handle on her new bike. Former Steve O'Handley ride seems to have a learning curve but could see some real progress by later Sun. Good luck with the new ride Jane.
That's all for now, may think of more thru the day
