Well it rained " A LOT", so much for a forecast with "showers".
Some great racing Sun once the rain went away, some congrats are in order.
Ray "Pug" Smith taking Dirty Harry to the winners circle, Pug still had the big smile on as he was leaving the track. Pug and his father Ray are some of the nicest people at the track and good to see them do well. Congrats Pug
Bob Partridge on the S/P win. After last years absolutely horrible start with non stop tranny troubles he is off to a great start this year. Final was .0001 MOV though, insanely tight. Good job by Cody Hobart on the runner up, asked him after the race why he didn't tighten it up more, Cody was not impressed, gotta like a guy who hates to lose. ;D ;D ;D
Riley "Magoo" Green on the Junior win, continuing as "The Hitter" in the junior ranks. Congrats to "Sweet Pea" on the runner up.
Ray Roach on 3 straight wins at Raceway Park, Duck race is probably not what he had in mind but he was smiling pretty good afterwards anyways. Lost a close one to him in the 3rd round of the duck race, my .514 to his .520, my .016 under to his .0009 under. I had to get the MOV to .005 or so to get the win, tough deal. ;D ;D ;D
Finally got to a race with the T-Bird, decent numbers, lots of tuning on the new combo to do. Little inconsistent right now so suspension tuning in order too. Put a bunch of clicks in the shocks front and rear wondering what the extra power would do, will soften it up for Greenfield. Did have a 1.29 60 foot so the chassis really likes the extra power, worst was a 1.32. Had a larger than expected tax return so got myself a present, a data acquisition system. Gave me fits for a while but did get good data on the last pass of the day. Am running way rich but everything else looks pretty good. Need to do the math but converter seems to be locking up reasonably well.
John MacKinnon getting comfortable in the dragster, unfortunately had a transbrake sol failure when he went to get ready for 2nd round. Best of 8.11 @164 for some very stout numbers. He said from the start he had to be able to run the car all on his own, Wendy loves to help but very occasionally she is not there so he had to figure it out. Even packs his chute by himself, great job my friend.
Richard Boyd with some very hard luck, major grenade went off in the engine. I was in the other lane when it blew, was waiting for him to do the turnoff thing at the top of the track. He rolled up in a huge cloud of smoke, I am going WTF, he did not get off the track so I got around him and bailed out to see if I could help. Smoke was gone but the oil puddle was getting pretty big. He took it a lot better than I would, already talking about the best plan to get back to the track, some concern about whether the heads had taken a hit.
Been a long thrash for me to get to the track and pretty worn out this morning but looking forward to hitting the road to Greenfield on Fri, hope to see everyone there and catch up after a long winter. See you there.
