Welcome to our 775th edition of the weekly series. Tonight we are pretty excited to be celebrating the announcement of our first race of the 2020 race season, August 15-16th. The executive of the CBDRA have completed a pretty detailed presentation with the Nova Scotia Department of Health and we are now moving forward with our first race. This race will take place but because of the current restrictions we will be unable to host spectators for this race. We designed a pre-registration process which from the outside might appear complicated but we need the information collected, in case there is an incident of COVID-19. We need to know every single person within the facility. We also need to ensure the rules regarding social distancing are adhered to, and all need to take this task very seriously, so please consider every other racer while you are on site. These are new things for all of us and we really need to get this done right, so please make sure your mind is set to comply with the posted rules, and to help insure our continued good health. There are people on both sides of these restrictions but by registering and paying your race fees, you have agreed to accept the processes we are now living and working under.
Here's the basics list to get you familiar with the process.
So the world is rapid changing and we all being prompted to adapt and in some cases, learn new ways to do things. One of the things changing the most is our race registration system. We just completed developing a system that would address our information needs and well as the needs of the N.S. Department of Health. For the most part, it was accepted well but some had a few minor struggles which I believe we managed to correct. This will get easier but now I'm going to pass the reins back to the racers. When we post there's a race you will now need to find a way to get yourself in the program. Some people have no trouble at all with using their phone or iPad for everything, those people will just continue along as usual. Now, there will always be people that require some help with these things, we fully understand and we are here to help. Take your phone and call us or if you can text us. We can and will assist you however, I also have another idea to help the process. I'd would like everybody to find at least one "RACE TEXT BUDDY". I personally had about 60 RACE TEXT BUDDIES on Friday alone. Once you pick up your lastest scoop or news in DRAGSITE. Grab your phone and text one or two RACE TEXT BUDDIES. That would not only help your buddy into the program, but it would also insure the timely spread of the information.
By the way, this website www.maritimedragracing.com has been the home base for DRAG RACING information for more than 20 years, and that is not expected to change in the foreseeable future. So if your surfing any social media looking for the latest info, please retool your search process by beginning your seach here. I'll post information using this forum and you can share the link to it, or wherever works best for you. I also use social media and have read some intesting things the last couple days and I have no idea just how people assume things and then actually type them. Anyway, its easy to bookmark the message board and try to make it part of your routine. I can assure you that if you do, you likely won't miss a race.
Big meeting of the CBDRA is scheduled for this Wednesday at 7:00pm at the track. Now, as a little exercise, why not text a RACE BUDDY and share that info. Easy eh!!! Also the masks will be necessary at the meeting. (NO EXCEPTIONS)
To close out the story tonight, I was pretty excited to get my first glance of Don & Rose LaVoie's newest hot-rod. Personally I cannot wait to see Don behind the wheel of this beast.
Here's Don and Rose with some of their family celebrating the new arrival.
That's my deal for tonight, please remember to play safe and have fun. And text your RACE BUDDY.
