Welcome to our 751st edition of our Monday Nite Indy Pics and we will share a couple of pretty cool topics for tonight. To begin, late last season Don and Rose LaVoie celebrated 50 years of drag racing which they concluded with a racing adventure to Las Vegas, Nevada and Pomona, California. The duo enjoyed things so much they actually stored the C/SA Corvette in California and then drove back down to Pomona last week. Once qualified, the ladders were set and Don found his way through the first two rounds of Stock Eliminator. In round three, LaVoie would be sidelined by the A/SA Camaro of Al Corda. The party is not over yet however, as team LaVoie is how heading to Phoenix, Arizona for the NHRA Arizona Nationals on February 21-23rd. Don asked me to pass along his regards for all the best wishes that he and Rose have received from all their friends and supporters. Here’s a photo from the staging lanes before round 1 began. The "Indy" decal has now appeared at yet another track.
Next topic for today, we are going to do a follow up report on a story we first reported in our 497th edition way back in March of 2015. Hard to believe we’ve quickly zipped our way through almost five years. Now for the purpose of telling my story, some of these photos would have been previously shared in edition 497. In any case, Shaun Leudy’s ’70 Cuda resurrection of the "Graceyard Car" is now approaching its completion and here’s a series of photos to celebrate and document the journey through the last five plus years. I’ve got a huge collection of photos of Shaun's ’67 Cuda and we will start with shop poster I made for Shaun a few years back.
Decision Day . . . I think I’m gonna do this but there isn't much left
The projects early days meant lots of measuring and calculations
And then more measuring and calculating. . .
Now there’s a floor and the project is well underway
Primed and taking shape
The first load of paint gets delivered
Undercarriage nears completion
’70 Cuda stands on her own once again.
Power-plant install completed
Roof paint completed
Shaun really appreciated the efforts of Donnie Carmichael at Doctor Glass (Sydney) Link to Dr. Glass as he installed front and rear glass and the awesome vinyl roof.
Another underside peek
Another big splash of paint and we have a real sharp ’70 Cuda for the world to enjoy once more.
Shaun claims this project has been a labor of love and I truely believe that he should stand proud of what he has recreated from basically a basket case. Once all of the finishing touches are completed I’m planning another follow up story this summer, but I’m thinking there is a chance we will actually have video footage of this new ’70 Cuda cruising the streets.
If by chance you have missed the 497th edition, just click on this link view it.

That’s my deal for this week, but don’t forget to play safe and have fun.
