Most of you are already aware of the big news for our 2016 Maritime racing season, that being Miramichi Dragway achieving NHRA sanctioning, & subsequently announcing their National Open event to be held July 29th to the 31st. Rudy and his team have really elevated the level of the sport in this area through their new association with the sanctioning body, and having a divisional event in our area is something that up to this point I’m sure has never really been considered an option for the sport in the Maritimes. It is certainly the most exciting news for our sport locally in a very long while, and it offers racers competing in our series an opportunity to race on a larger scale if they choose to take advantage of this opportunity.
Mirimachi track officials are planning to hold two information sessions shortly to provide additional information to racers as to what will be required of them in order to compete at the event, as well as answering any questions which may be brought forward by those in attendance regarding the event. The dates for the meetings are Saturday, February 27th at the Moncton Coliseum, entrance C, meeting rooms A & B upstairs from 1 - 4 PM, and the following Saturday, March 5th, in the Halifax area. They will inform us of the time and location for the Halifax meeting when it becomes available. The Miramichi team is working with the NHRA divisional office to determine how to fast-track some of the requirements that will be necessary to allow racers to compete who have up to this point not raced at an NHRA sanctioned event, and they have some of the process already in place which will be discussed over the course of the meetings. It will be very important for anyone considering racing at this event to attend one of these meetings in order to gain the necessary information required in order to be properly prepared, since there will still be some requirements that will have to be addressed by the individual racers.
The Pro Tree Series will also be holding a short meeting with members in attendance directly after each of the Miramichi Raceway meetings in order to cover a few additional details exclusive to our series, and how they will relate to the race in general. The Stock / Superstock series has already committed to holding their previously scheduled race within the confines of the bigger NHRA sanctioned event, and it seems to be the logical step for the Pro Tree series as well, even though there will be a few more complications for our group to deal with in order to make it happen seamlessly, thus the need for the after-meetings in order to gain consensus from the members. The Pro Tree Series will be participating in the divisional event.
WE ENCOURAGE EVERYONE TO ATTEND
