With the holidays behind us and the new year settling in, it's the time of year where
we start planning and preparing for the new season. Here is some news and notes from our
founder Bernie Corscadden.
"The 2016 maritime racing season will be here before we know it, which seems to
happen a little bit more quickly every year. To start on a high and very Thankful note,
Bill Clarke’s Trans-World Distributing will again be back on board as the Atlantic
Pro Tree Series title sponsor next season. We are also hopeful in having
FTI Converters back on board again as an associate sponsor as well.
There is, as usual, a lot of stuff to take care of prior to the gates
opening for the first race in may, and again this season we are looking
to our members for a bit of additional support in ensuring that we can
look towards another successful season in 2016. Since it’s inception
four years ago, the pro-tree series has always strived to provide our
competitors with what could be regarded as a world-class level of
compensation for their racing success, and we hope to continue to do
so in the upcoming season. In order for us to continue doing this however,
ongoing sponsorship dollars are necessary in order to successfully reach our
funding goals. We have had very limited success to this point in time growing
our sponsorship base through the efforts of the series membership, and it
would be a real boost if a few more of our members were to extend their efforts
a bit in soliciting new sponsorship funding into the mix. In order to grow or
even maintain the current levels of payouts, we will need to expand our financial base.
Due to many factors, the most prevalent being the overall poor state of the economy
in general,we are going to lose a few of our long term supporters next season.
This negatively affects the bottom line with regard to what’s in your cheque when
you win an event, I guess this stands to reason that if the funding is not there,
the compensation will have to be adjusted accordingly. If you as racers wish to
see this series maintain it’s current standard, & perhaps even
grow, take a bit of time and make an effort to help improve the picture by
soliciting some additional sponsorship. We are a small self funded group of specialized
racers, and this series is our playground, it’s up to everyone using it to help maintain it.
There is no management team or board of directors, just a few dedicated people trying
to keep this series afloat, and your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Just as last year, the incentive package of a competitor’s weekend pass ($50.00 value)
is still being offered to any member providing each additional $500.00 in sponsorship
revenue to the series. I am hopeful that some of you will be able to take advantage of it!
Just as last season,we will be scheduling five races throughout the 2016 season,
including the Sydney, Cape Breton race which is tentatively added depending upon their
success in getting their new facility up and running this year, an endeavour in which
we wish them success . The points for this season will again be counted in three of the
five events (or four if Sydney is not operational). The points structure will remain at
10 points per round win, with an additional point being awarded to each event winner, as
well as a continuance of ten show-up points for each attended event. Finally, the
top qualifier in each division will receive five bonus points for each event.
The 2016 event schedule is as follows;
Race 1 June 18th Greenfield, N.S.
Race 2 July 2nd Oyster Bed, P.E.I.
Race 3 July 30th Miramichi, N.B.
Race 4 Aug 27th Sydney, N.S.
Race 5 Oct 1st Miramichi, N.B.
This spring there will be a 2016 AGM meeting to be held at the Moncton Radical Speed Sport
car show in April. Date and times will follow as they become available. If you are planning
to attend the car show, please take the time to attend the agm. There will be some pretty cool
door prizes, so come see what were all about and hopefully you'll walk away with alittle something.
Thank You Bernie "
With the new year also comes a changing of the guard so to speak. We'd like to extend a
huge THANK YOU to Mr. JOSH GOODWIN on all his hard work and dedication to the Pro Tree Series
over the last year. Josh put in a great amount of time and effort to grow and maintain this
series and your efforts have not gone unnoticed. With that we welcome Mr Double (Greg Powers)
in putting his fingerprint on our series. Greg has always been a huge supporter of the series
and were all looking forward in working with Greg to continue to grow this series into the 2016
season and beyond......
