Saturday, September 29th, Miramiche Dragway will host the final scheduled event for the inaugural Atlantic Pro Tree Series for 2012, & we are looking forward to full fields in all classes to finish out our first season. Up to this point, the series has proven to be an unqualified success in it’s first year of operation, and I would like to take a moment to thank all of the series sponsors for their support of our fledgling effort, as well as all of the track operators who have taken the time and effort to add this extra series to their program, as well as the ADRA for their guidance & assistance, and especially all of the competitors, some who have taken the plunge and given this form of racing a try for the first time, & some who are seasoned veterans. The competition has been great including some surprise winners, & the turnouts have exceeded our expectations in many cases. I have received feedback from many competing in this format for the first time indicating that they really enjoy the heads-up style of competition. Thanks to you all.
Each of the three classes have very tight points races heading into the final event. Todd Chase & Trevor Cowie are tied atop the Quick Rod (8.90) standings with 8 points each, & the top five competitors are separated by only 3 points. In the Super Rod class, race-sponsor Kevin Lively leads the pack with 6 points, but is followed closely by Vito Bosca & Josh Goodwin with 5 points each, The top seven competitors in this class are separated by only 3 points, so it will be anyone’s race to win. Finally, in the Hot Rod class, Berny Corscadden is currently in first place with 9 points, followed closely by Jason MacNeil, Chad Ramsey, & George Estabrooks, all with 6 points. The season’s titles for all three categories are up for grabs, & the upcoming final event should prove to be an exciting conclusion to the series. Since we tabulate the final series points using a competitor’s best three event totals, the final tallies will be adjusted somewhat after the final event.
Hope to see you all next weekend in Miramiche!!!!!
