Well, it has definitley been quiet on the Pro Tree Series message board lately but the time is almost here for our first race in our four race series for 2012! In less than two weeks, hopefully a large crowd of .90's racers will be lining up at Greenfield Dragway for some heads up, pro tree action. Race #1 is on Saturday July 7th.
Just to get an idea of car counts for our first meet, who is planning on coming to Greenfield and entering into the Pro Tree Series on Saturday? And what class will you be competing in?
There has been a lot of work put into this series to get it up and running for 2012, so load up your car and head to Greenfield. If you have never tried this type of racing, give it a shot! I learned to drag race in the 8.90 class, and there is just something about two cars leaving together off a pro tree that I really like. Hope to see some good numbers for our first race!!!

From strictly word of mouth, the 8.90 class looks to have both James & Trevor Cowie competing at the first event, as well as Lorne Buchanan, Daryl Bishop, & possibly Doug Forbes, as well as Tom Oakley & Lonnie Wright. I'm also betting that "The Chief", Glen Walker might give it a try as well with his injected dragster, as well as Vince & Michelle with their dragster. Haven't heard anything from the Hobart family as yet, but both boys run very strong dragsters & are a threat wherever they show up.
In the 9.90 class, I think that we'll be seeing Kevin Lively's strong Mustang competing, along with Mike Mattice's Nova & possibly Danny Walker's El Camino & Alan Chisholm's Camaro. Spencer Phillips's new Vega will be making it's Pro-Tree debut at this event as well. Mike Sargent will be bringing his roadster from Saint John, & possibly Paul Porter from Fredricton with his T-bucket. I would also imagine that Barrett Bonnar might give the heads-up format a try as well. Dwight Cummings from Saint John is also going to run the series with his 240Z Datsun, but not sure if he'll make this event.
In the 10.90 class, Jason MacNiel will be providing some stout competition, along with long-time racers George & Fred Estabrooks. James Cowie will be competing with his H/R class Camaro, & Bill Clarke will have his Mustang ragtop at the event. Haven't heard from the Rankin brothers as yet, but they are both very tough H/R class competiors, as well as Lawrence Sherman. & I'll also be competing in this class.
There are a few regulars who aren't going to be able to make this event, & probably a few more racers who are looking to try out the heads-up style of racing for the first time, so it should be an entertaining show with some real good competition. If anyone else is planning to compete, drop a line & let us know!
