Added February 11, 2010 - The Stock/Super Stock Challenge has been expanded from the original one race event and is now THREE races! See the Feb. 11th post for the full story!
We are pleased to announce that Greenfield Dragway has offered to host a Stock/Super Stock combo race on Saturday, June 19th, which is the same weekend as Greenfield's first ADRA race of 2010. With the huge amount of interest that has been expressed lately in Stk/SS class racing, this is great news!
This event is not affiliated in any way with the recently announced Stk/SS races scheduled for Miramichi. We wish them well with their plans, but elected to take a different approach with our event based on racer feedback.
The governing rules for this event will be basically the same as those used by several other Stock/Super Stock series including the Can-Am Series in Ontario. Only minor changes have been made to reflect local differences. These rules aim to keep things as simple as possible, and emphasize the fun aspect of the sport. The rules are listed below.
The $50 entry fee noted in the rules is in addition to the appropriate track entry fee. 100% of the Stk/SS entry will be paid out in winnings, and any sponsorship monies will be added to the payout purse. The track entry fees have two options: racers who cannot stay for Sunday can enter for Saturday only, or by paying the full fee participants can race in all of the other weekend races, including the ADRA race.
The choice of the June 19-20 weekend will work out well for those who will want to race in the ADRA eliminations the next day, and June temperatures should provide good track conditions.
This race has come about largely because of the strong interest expressed, indicating that the local racing community is eager to support such an event. Any Stock & Super Stock racers who plan to attend should post here so that we can develop a list showing the potential field. This will be of interest to everyone, and will also make landing sponsorships that much easier.
If anyone wishes to assist in any way; including with sponsorships, it would be much appreciated. Please contact Jeff Kempton via this site, at 902-865-3012, or by email at jeffkempton@hotmail.com
Stay tuned for regular updates as more details become finalized!
Note: An updated version of the Stock/Super Stock Rules has been posted on another thread at the top of this page
