Hi Folks
Sorry it took so long to get back to the keyboard after a sunny and hot weekend in Epping! Between the two classes Atlantic Canada was well represented with a whopping 13 cars!
New England Dragway also saw the debut of Mike Ingram's newly purchased stock eliminator cars! Look for a green '68 Chevelle with a 396 and check this thing out!
After qualifying shook out Bruce Riley was the quickest from home qualifying 4th out of 45 Super Stock entries.
4 1164 SS/EA Bruce Riley, Lake Echo NS, '71 Chevelle 9.396 10.35 -0.954

And as you can see Fred Thibeault paced the 83 car Stock field from the pole position earning a first round bye

13 1979 I/S Terry Knapper, Moncton NB, '78 Camaro 11.282 12.20 -0.918
16 1387 B/SA Chris Howes, Rothesay NB, '70 Challenger 10.349 11.25 -0.901

47 1953 L/SA Malcolm London, St. John NB, '80 Malibu 11.959 12.70 -0.741
64 1412 F/SA Michael Ingram, Nova Scotia Can ,'68 Chev 11.228 11.85 -0.622
80 1318 G/SA Bill Sheppard, Lakeview NS, '73 Duster 11.936 12.00 -0.064
With an eventful Saturday which included......heavy rain, an accident in the pits between a scooter and race car (which the scooter driver is healing from), an accident on the road outside the gates between a motorcycle and a car (no info there), a scary Top Sportsman wreck, a full length oil down in Comp or Top Sportsman lets just say it was an interesing and long day.
First round of stock claimed Billy on a heads up, Chris on a tight run, Malcolm with a -.005 and Mike on a tight package (welcome to Stock). Fred advanced on his bye, Terry was victorious, Jack slayed a mid 8 second Cobra Jet, Trevor won as well.
In Super Stock 3 went down in first round. John on a holeshot, Mark on a tight stripe....008 and Wendell had some traction issues. Bruce and Blair both moved on.
Second round saw Jack fall to his second Cobra Jet of the day and had to relinquish the nickname "Snake Charmer".... Trevor defeated Terry Knapper who had to leave for a prior commitment. Blair faced mechanical issues and Bruce was red. Fred scored a tight win banking on his .017 reaction time.
When third round rolled around the needle on the thermometer was buried in the 90 zone and it was just approaching high noon. Little warm! The aluminum grand stands felt like a frying pan! Trevor drew the ever tough Jim Boudreau in a heads up B/SA matchup. Falling 10.46 to a 10.19 Trevor certainly did his best and ran well given the awful weather at the time! Fred moved on with a redlight win to go to the third round.
The sole ACSSSA member in the fourth round was Fred. Unfortunately mechanical issues bit Fred and he didn't trip the beams in Round 4.
All in all what a great weekend! 13 members including Mike's debut and Fred's Pole Position. Atlantic Canada was well represented and I look forward to some of that momentum carrying us in to our ever popular Miramichi race!
