To continue my recap of the 2013 race season,I have to include the weekend before, the labourday ACSSA race, I had kinda an off weekend and the car was all ready so I decided to go over the week early and maybe test and hang out at the track. The Tuners were having there weekend and I figured I would make a run or two and just relax...check out the action, Saturday they put on a crazy show with some pretty stout runs, Saturday night took in the action at the stockcar track..Sunday with minimal traction I decided to leave the car in the trailer and thanks to Arnold, I was able to leave the whole deal at his place to save dragging it home.
The next weekend was labourday so I loaded all five kids in the minivan, and headed for Oysterbed, I had the car trailered over from Arnolds and we set up for the weekend, Sat brought my parents and uncle Sam over for the race,it was great having a cheering section and an extra set of hands,in the pits never hurts.after quailfing at 5under which put me in around the 13th spot, always a stout field in the ACSSA for sure...I was able to pick up a couple more round wins which helped the overall position in year in points series....a great weekend for sure!! last stop Greenfield!!in three weeks..

Yes!! We made it back to Greenfield!in one piece. The last race at RWP really tightened up the points race.Kelly and Mark solidly in the one two positions, and I found myself in a bit of a log jam sitting in sixth only a round or two out of forth,we have had a very fortunate season with my new engine, and updates really making a difference, after qualifying with a 4under 11:07 I met Terry in the first round and the high revving Camaro broke the rear diff I went on to take round one, and the after Bruce didn't make the call for round two I had a single..during that run I had a slight Trans issue causing fluid to pour all over the underside of the hood,so this next pit stop was spent mopping up transfluid, next round would be my last of the summer after a breakout 11:07 on a 11:10 dial, the car really worked great all day and I did get to pick up a couple more rounds, but not enough to overtake Jack or Jeremy and left me in sixth place,I was very happy to make it to every race, and to finish in the top ten out of 32 cars..this is a great series with a lot of top racers with years of experience I hope to draw from that in the years to come..as I am writing this it's blowing and snowing, this doesn't mean that the car isn't getting any attention.the Mirada has been on the scales working on its diet, all summer I scaled about 75lbs heavy, so this year you'll see a much slimmer Mirada! Lol..so far I have peeled 20lbs out, and with the new strange front brakes and updated wiring we should find that last 50lbs..ofcourse the driver could stand to loose a few pounds, after the diet and a fresh set of coated headers it will head over to the sign shop where a new decal package will be installed,Napa will remain as my main sponsor while I have signed a couple new ones for next year, very excited to unvail the car at Speedsport and make my first trip South in May, watch for my road Road to Epping..coming soon...

very good read of how you saw your season and the improvements made to the car. and to get this particular car back on the track with it's colorful history is even more outstanding. there are many from the days gone by that might be still out there but bringing even one back is something to be especially proud of. the fact that it has been in the family so long adds to the personal satisfaction part as well i'm sure. you might want to be careful with sam around though as he might like to try it once more. as one of the people that remember the car with the cordoba header panel as well as the mirada part now to see it on track makes this old dog remember days gone by and makes one feel a bit younger. your doing a great job with it al and heres wishing you many more "white slip rounds" in the future. i'll be watching for sure, just don't know my vantage point at this time........................ jeff r
