This years installment of the road to Greenfield starts way back in Aug of last year, while on a pass at MDP I had a connecting rod decide it didnt want to be part of the group anymore if you know what I mean....lol And yes i can kinda laugh about it now ,but as most of us know sitting in a pool of your own oil on the return road is never a FUN time!!,So with that we came home to look over the Damage ....Needless to say......NOT GOOD ....season over, only three races into the ACSSA series.Over the next few months and talking things over with fellow racers , I decided in October to send what was left of my engine to A & J ,with that I loaded all my parts and headed to Melvern Square, and after getting lost ....just a little...I found the Barn, and yes I was surprised when I walked in, it was like everyone says....and after talking with John and Allyn and getting a plan of attack I left things in their capable hands.
Fast forward to Jan and the engine is complete ,the only parts reused was the block and heads ...everything else is updated to todays technology,And YES it made excellent power on the DYNO ,John said it was lacking carburation but other than that it worked well...so over the next few months I worked at gathering up the rest parts to get the car together. This takes us to last weekend and I pick the car up from the winter storage, over the next few weeks I will be keeping you all informed on my progress and my goals for the season...

Afternoon all!!...I figured I should catch everyone up on th parts and peices and changes I plan on making over the next few weeks.....Obviously by now you all know about the fresh new engine, but there have been some other parts and peices that i have gathered up over the last few months....I was in need of some fresh rubber and it just so happened that Mark Howes was getting some new slicks and we use the same so his only had a season on them,so I struck a deal with him and now I am set for the summer.I also gathered up a trans temp gauge and pressure gauge which i will be adding to keep an eye on the vitals of the transmission. While i mentioned that John had said i was hurtin in the carb dept ,I asked fellow racers who i should get to do a Thermo_Q

uad for me.....After talking with Kelly,he mentioned Brad VanLant so he had Brad build one for me.....very reasonable i should say..and a very nice peice..so now once the motor is in and we have a carb just some new larger fuel lines and new suction line and the fuel system is good..This year with hopes of a much quicker and faster car the brakes became a concern ,thats when a call to my awesome sponser NAPA and they located all new calipers pads and brake hoses...I really had no idea when they were changed last,so better save then sand trap!!...This week my new motorplate went to the machine shop to be fabbed up so by Saturday we could be ready to drop it in.........more updates to come..

Well it Friday!!!! Time to get cracking........just heading over to Big Joes machine shop to pick up my freshly made motorplate, it will likely need a little trimming and such but thats easy enough, tonight i plan to get the car in the air and work at the rear floor and wheel wells ,The car has 28 years of rubber build up so I plan to scrape and paint all the areas ..hope to save a little weight, tomorrow we will start fitting the motor and trans, I will need to get the Trans pan off and over to Joes to weld in the sending unit fittings. The plan is to take some Pics if I can figure out how to post them...............

Its Monday!!.....Lots done over the weekend, for starters we worked at scraping 6lbs of rubber from the inner wheel tubs,(yes i weighed it!!)...lol and then gave the tubs and rear frame a fresh coat of paint. Also i changed the rear brake hose,it looked like the original hose so its served its thirty odd years. After that I removed the fuel cell so i could up grade the #8 fuel line fitting to a less restrictive #12.......after that I cleaned and lubricated the leaf springs and checked over the four link to make sure all the hime joints were free and not worn out... I also cut away some needless wiring harness ends from the old OEM harness ....anything to save weight..tonight I plan to run some new battery cable...I am trying to start at the back and work my way forward....so far so good...
