This morning on my way to work ,i was going over in my head ALL the things i needed to get done in order to make the Greenfield event. So to make it a little more interesting i am going to have a on line journal of my week ahead and let you all know just how things are going.Let me start out by saying ,the car is a Long way from ready,so i took next week off and i am going to thrash heavy!!.Due to some personal issues ie. divorce i no longer have a nice spacious shop so a friend of mine who owns a fabulous shop let me use some floor space for the summer, now i just dug the car out of winter storage and removed the engine...and thats it.........so for everyone out there here is the list from my head of what needs to be done.....and this is no certain order: 1.repair oil pan 2.remove transmission and install transbrake valve body 3.install new converter 4.move MSD box and install three step 5.install trans brake switch and bracket 6.install new tach 7.change seat belts 8.change rear axle gears from 5:86 to 5:13 9.change rear tire size 10.change front shocks 11.install new pushrods and adj valves 12.have carb freshened 13.new plugs 14.install fuel pump 15.install new coil
As you can see the list is pretty daunting , and for most people it may be a winters job , i have lots of confidence i will get it all done by Thursday afternoon so i can leave Friday morning..i will keep you posted daily on my progress....should be fun!!

Nothing proves more clearly how addictive this sport can be than a racer's willingness to tackle a last minute thrash to make a race! lol Best of Luck, Al. Hope you have a productive week; capped by a great weekend at Greenfield. Looking forward to your updates!

Well day one, i am still in preparation mode for what is about to take place , i dropped the valve body and instructions off to Sam so he can get familiar with installing a Trans Brake, his words were" lookin to brake lots of parts now!!" He is a little old school so i hope he is wrong ......lol ..so i told him i would have the Trans to him Monday morning and he said he would check it over and reseal it at the same time I am lucky he is close by only about five mins from where the car is , cause i am thinking time is not something i have alot of. Did you stop and think why am i putting myself through all this hassle??Why don't i just drive down and watch the races?? Ever race and then try and be a spectator?? Trust me it sucks!! So even with five young kids and an ex wife and full time job i still would like four or five weekends a summer just for me, i don't hunt, fish ,go four wheeling or have a snowmobile so drag racing is my vise, i grew up around all the maritime tracks ,following my uncle Sam and my dad who acted as his pit crew. i still remember ,the first time they fired up his Super Stock 73 Dodge Dart at the old Fina station I would have been six years old and i said to my father "that thing is loud".so i guess you could say its in my blood. My current car was build by Sam in 1983 , a scrap yard car that was in a fire when it was only a year old so it was structurally in good shape,Sam took all the go fast parts from the Dart and transplanted them to the what then was a Chrysler Cordoba.Sam had to build a Cordoba because he couldn't find a nosecone for the Mirada, it turn building a GT car because Cordobas were not available with the engine combo he wanted, after building and racing the car Sam retired in 1991 after failing a tech inspection at McEwens raceway , Sam moth balled the car and later sold it to a local racer in town, who tried the car once and that was it,that leads to I buying the car back in the spring of 2009. which leads me here...so I guess i am doing this for sentimental reasons as well as for the love of the sport..OK enough rambling i will give you more updates tomorrow night ....and no Mark not done yet..you just be sitting at the big stop Friday morning i will be there!!
