The fourth and final race of the ACSSA Stock/SuperStock Challenge series is barely three weeks away, and work continues steadily behind the scenes to make it our best event yet. This will be no easy feat considering the success that we've enjoyed with our preceding races! Here are just a couple of the story lines that are making the rounds:
With a perfect season underway in which he has won all three races contested so far; Greg Nickerson has locked up our season championship, but that definitely doesn't mean that there's no drama left in the points chase. No fewer than 14 racers still have a mathematical chance to finish as high as 2nd place, and that list of racers includes all three of last year's event winners as well as the 2010 champion. It's a safe prediction that the fight for the 2nd and 3rd spots will be very interesting on race day; as those 14 racers make a late season push to finish in the money! Of course, none of the other racers can be taken lightly either, as everyone will be doing their best to cap off their season with an event win and the cash that comes with it. On top of that, there's always the Bounty Hunter money for anyone who can end Greg's domination this year. From Greg's perspective, he'd like to go in the history books with what could be the first perfect season ever in local drag racing. Of course, if Greg can pocket another Bounty Hunter Award by turning away all comers that would just be icing on the cake for him!
There has been a lot of bench racing and speculation lately as people try to predict how many entries will roll through the Greenfield pit gate for Race 4. Our field sizes for 2011 have grown steadily over our 2010 fields, and we eagerly anticipate that Race 4 in Greenfield will have our largest turnout yet. In our three races so far in 2011 we have had 24 racers participate in our races, and with at least 4 other racers that could also show, the odds are very good that we will have a record field in Greenfield of over 20 cars.
Here Are The Racers Who Have Been Active In The 2011 ACSSA Series To Date:
1. Greg Nickerson, Lr. Sackville, NS - B/FIA 1996 Firebird
2. Jeremy Keans, Brooklyn, NS - G/SA 1985 Camaro

23. Bill Campbell, Moncton, NB - E/SA 1969 Fairlane conv.
24. Keith Johnston, Bass River, NS - S/GTE 1980 Malibu wagon
As far as the wild cards go; here are the four I have in mind, and there are more possibilities out there besides these ones:
25. Bruce Riley SS/EA 1971 Chevelle SS: Last Spring, Bruce announced that he was sitting this season out. Since then, he's been an interested spectator for at least one of our races, and when I was at the Armstrongs a few weeks ago his block was being machined and new pistons were on order. Will he race? I don't know, but it would be a great chance to get a few laps on his fresh bullet to be ready for next year, or for the Dutch Classic. Just sayin'....
26. Chris Chapman F/CM Monte Carlo: Chris has had the Chapman Family Racing Monte at the track this summer in both Pure Stock and Crate Motor configurations, but the stars have not yet aligned for him to be race ready on the dates that our series was being contested. Maybe Sept. 24th will be the charm.....
27. Gerry Clow D/SA 1969 Mustang convertible: Gerry's car has been sitting for some time now; awaiting the resolution of some front end alignment issues, but I believe it's race ready other than that. Hopefully he can get the wheels pointed in the right direction and give the Ford fans a second entry to cheer for!
28. "Mister X" SS/IA 1967 Chevy II: With the recent listing of a race ready 1967 Chevy II SS/IA in the local Kijiji ads, nearly anyone could surprise us by making a purchase and showing up to play on Sept. 24th. The question is, will they? Time will tell.....
In addition to the greater competition and better show for the spectators that a bigger field creates; at the 20 car mark the payout to the Event Winner goes up to $600.00. On top of that; everyone but the 1st round runnerups are guaranteed to at least win their entry fee back, so it's a pretty good deal.
With all this in mind, the only question is: who's planning to race with the ACSSA in Greenfield on Sept. 24? Post here and let us know!
