WOWWW!!!!!! what a weekend, great weather, dragstrip packing to the rafters with cars, does not get any better than that.
First of all huge congrats to Bruce Howatt on the S/P win. First S/P win at his home track and well deserved. Talked to him this morning and he kept saying "lucky" and so on but luck does not get 6 rounds of S/P anymore. Taking a relatively inconsistent car and winning is no mean feat. Bruce is one of the hardest working guys at the track too, well known for the truckload of Tim's he takes every morning. Helps the crew setup the timing system and is the goto guy when something goes wrong. Did a tremendous amount of work to get the scoreboards working this year. If any racer likes racing on PEI give Bruce a congrats for the win and a thanks for the tremendous amount of work he does for keeping this place running.
Next is congrats to my new neighbor Ray "Pug" "former rookie sensation" Smith on the gamblers win on Sat. Wading thru 64 of the best footbrakers anywhere is a big deal and he came thru in fine fashion. He also cemented his hero status with the Green "boys" Randy and Ryan by letting them get all over his very clean Duster. Those guys love anything Mopar and Pug made their day by showing up with the car they have been asking about for years.
Congrats to Travis Livingstone on the Pro win. I surprised him over the winter when I referred to him as one of the "hitters" in Pro when we were taking about the Big Bucks Bracket Bash. Sorry Travis but after all the rounds you went this year so far the "hitter" label is here to stay. ;D ;D ;D
Good to see some new people do very well over the weekend. Kerry Oickle on the breakthru win in Box on Sat and big rounds on Sun, Kerry makes enough trips over here to become a regular good to see him do well.
Gus Longahie winning in Street, not sure if it is his first win but must be close, congrats Gus.
Congrats to Rylie Green on the Sat gamblers win and third place on Sun, stacking up the ADRA points. ;D Think little brother Jensen got his first round win on Sunday too after the crewchief got the car sorted.
My weekend suffice to say my car badly needs a competent driver. ;D ;D ;D ;D Don't know how but the head gaskets are holding.
Great job by the staff at Raceway Park on running a huge crowd of cars thru is a timely fashion. Even with our late start and running the Duck race it was all done by 7 yesterday, a real testament to the talent of Earl Proude in running a race. There was talk of not running the Duck race but the popularity just keeps growing as 40-50?? cars showed up for first round.
Thanks to the people who jumped in to help with track prep both days. We had to scrape rubber both Sat & Sun morning so the help was appreciated. Always good for a few laughs when we are working and the extra hands help take the work out of it.
Though Peter Hobart did look well rested on Sun.
I rolled into the track early Fri morning and could not believe how many people were there already, place was buzzing on Fri. 64 cars in a gamblers race on a Friday is just WOW.
Many thanks to all the racers who supported this race, car counts had been dismal so far and this weekend put a smile on Kevin's face. Again a bunch of cars who had not been here in many years or making their first trip ever. Hope to see a lot of you back again.
