I'm just listening to the audio broadcast of the Super Stock class runoffs in Indy, and we have two winners to congratulate so far!
Earlier Brian Oakes won the SS/CA class trophy and cheque with his wicked fast '69 Camaro (the former John Armstrong entry). For those of you who don't know "Quack" he is originally from Waverley, NS and raced locally for years before relocating to the Eastern U.S. to scratch his racing itch between work cycles with the oil industry. Congratulations Brian!
A few minutes ago John Armstrong also took his '69 Corvette into the SS/AA class winner's circle. The final round provided further proof that John is killing the tree this year, as even though his opponent got out on him first with a .002 light John was right there with a .007 of his own, and beat him to the finish line. Congratulations to John as well!
Wendell Howes is about to race in round 2 of the Hemi Shootout, and has a tough couple of rounds ahead of him yet if we wants to hold the prestigous Shootout trophy later today. Mark Howes went out in round 1 after being paired against his father.
Here's to crossing my fingers that Wendell ends the day as the top SS/AH entry, and that one of our racers goes all the way and is holding the Wally trophy on Monday!

Wendell is through to Round 3 of the Hemi Challenge with five cars left. The bye goes to Tyler Hard next round. All five cars ran within a .07 spread (Barton@8.56, Daniels@8.57, Howes@8.59, Hard@8.60, Pancake@8.63). I don't know yet who Wendell is racing the next round.
Good Luck!

Hate to report it, but Wendell just went red against Barton by only .004 in the 3rd round. Barton faces Hard in the semis while Daniels gets the bye into the finals.
Congrats to Wendell for putting forth a great effort.....they weren't taking you lightly!

Great job by the Super Stock guys at such a huge event! Is Allan's Opel now owned by Dave Yediny? If so, they have it flying at Indy, sitting in first after three rounds of qualifying. I am going to start planning to make this race some day...lol.

That's Allyn's old Opel; now owned by Charlie Greco and driven by Dave. It certainly is flying; but then again it always did!
Indy is quite an event. It stretches over so many days that it becomes a real marathon especially when the weather is hot. With 1000 entries representing the best in the world it is a race like no other. I was fortunate enough to go to Indy numerous times and it's a race that I plan to get back to someday.

Super Stock Eliminations Round 1: update from the Indy race
Round 1 eliminations for Super Stock were run earlier this morning. John Armstrong produced another steller light (.005) to advance to round 2. Wendell Howes did even better with a PERFECT RT of .000 to win his round! Brian Oakes saw a .00 light in his pairing too, unfortunately it was his opponent with an .006 while Brian went red.
Now I guess I'll need to hang around for the audiocast of Round 2 later today after the Pro qualifying session!

Whew.....12 hours between the first and second round.......and we think our local races drag on! Of course, at Indy they have to fit in plenty of "other" classes that people seem keen to watch as well Round 2 of SS is just wrapping up as I type, and John is still in; after his opponent broke out. Wendell had a heads up with another SS/AH car and was a little tardy on the light, opening the door for the other Hemi to beat him to the stripe. Good show, Wendell, and Better Luck next time! John, keep it up; we're all cheering for you back here in Eastern Canada!

Well, dang it......John lost with a break out in the 3rd round.
Well done to all our guys......you didn't get the big Wally trophy this time around but you were in the hunt!
