2010 STOCK/SUPER STOCK CHALLENGE SERIES RULES(1.) Open to all Stock and Super Stock classes recognized by IHRA. These classes include: SUPER STOCK- Super Stock - Super Stock/GT - SS/GT Front-Wheel Drive Conversion - GT/Truck - Super Stock Production - Super Stock Modified - Modified Truck - Modified Stock - Modified Compact - Includes FWD classes - MX STOCK- Stock - Stock Fuel Injection - Stock Trucks - Stock GT - Autos and Trucks - Pure Stock - Crate Motor Stock IHRA rules will be enforced and can be found at the following link: www.mydigitalpublication.com/publication/?m=1203&l=1A proposal to allow cars to run that are legal with the sole exception of fibreglass front fenders was referred to our pre-registered racers for their feedback. A strong majority voted in favour of allowing this exemption, provided that: the fenders are of equal or greater weight to steel fenders, all inner fenders and braces are in place, and the appearance of the fenders is identical to the original equipment steel fenders. (To date, no one has entered using this exemption.)(2.) IHRA current class rules, minimum weights, HP factors and indexes used must be on file with the Tech Committee prior to each race. It is the responsibility of the racer to ensure that the information for the class that he/she intends to run is known to the Tech Committee in advance. (3.) Class designations must be displayed on vehicle. (4.) The Tech Committee has the right to inspect and weigh cars at any time (to be class legal). Scales will be onsite. (5.) Courtesy staging must be followed. (6.) Cars must dial on or under the national index for their class. No heads-up races by cars in the same class will take place. Current IHRA Class Indexes can be referenced using the following links; www.ihra.com/downloads/pdf/competition/stock_indexes.pdfwww.ihra.com/downloads/pdf/competition/ss_indexes.pdf(7.) Tech inspection to be completed before runs commence. The host tracks will use their existing Tech personnel to conduct their normal ET related safety inspection on each entry. We will then do the class related Tech, headed up by Jeff Kempton, who is a former NHRA Bronze Level Tech Inspector. At one or more races we will also have the services of a second former NHRA Bronze Level Tech Inspector. Tech will be modelled after the procedures used at IHRA and NHRA events. All efforts will be made to ensure a legal event. (8.) In the case of a bye or a break single run, the vehicle must stage under it's own power as per IHRA rules. (9.) Race Entry fee - Appropriate track entry fee, PLUS $50 for the Stk/SS race, to be paid before first time trial. If racer is unable to make first round, the racer or his representative must notify the organizers prior prior to the commencement of the first round. One-half the Stk/SS entry will be refunded ($25.00). If the racer or his representative does not notify the host that he/she is broken prior to the first round there will be no refund. 100% of the Stk/SS entry will be paid out in winnings, with additional sponsorship monies also added to the payout purse. The track entry fees have two options: racers who cannot stay for Sunday can enter for Saturday only, or by paying the full fee participants can race in all of the other weekend races, including the ADRA race. (10.) Time Trials - We will have the same number of time trials as the other classes present that weekend, and we will run our entries as a group to get maximum exposure for our series. It has been suggested that we pair the cars in qualifying so that they are close in ET, and put on more of a show for the spectators, and it is our intention to do so if possible. (11.) Sportsman Ladders will be used (For example, in a 16 car field the #1 qualifier races #9, #2 races #10, etc.) (12.) Paid entry at any of these races automatically includes membership in the Stock/Super Stock Association to be formed. (13.) Points - With only 3 races, extra points have been allowed for wins and runner-ups, to give extra recognition for final round appearances, and to help break ties in the season championship points. 2010 Stock/Super Stock Challenge Series Point System: Attend race and go through Tech: 20 pts. Each Round Win Through QuarterFinals: 20 pts. Semi-Final Win: 22 pts. Final Round Win: 23 pts. (14.) These rules will be followed for the three races of 2010, but are subject to review and amendment during the off-season.

Another day, another announcement; and this one's a big one! A&J Automotive; a local shop who has made a big name for themselves in the Stock and Super Stock world, has stepped forward as the latest sponsor for our series. They are now sponsoring our #1 Qualifier Awards at $100 per race. As their shop is well known for the impressive horsepower numbers that they produce, their sponsorship of this seems especially fitting.
In a generous gesture of his own; as soon as Kevin MacLeod heard that A&J wanted to become involved, he suggested offering them the #1 Qualifier award sponsorship that he had spoken for earlier. Kevin will instead sponsor a new end-of-season award to be known as the Norm Pickrem "Spirit Of Class Racing" Award. This is a great addition to our end of season awards.
To Allyn and John Armstrong and their team, and to Kevin MacLeod as well, thank you all!

Gerard Bryden has created a great boost of publicity for our series! He has supplied an article to Canadian Drag Racer e-magazine, and it just hit the internet. This will get the word out to a much larger audience, and who knows? It may result in some racers from outside our region showing up at one of our races in the years to come. Wouldn't that be cool! Here's the link to the article. Thanks Gerard! canadiandragracer.ca/index.php/canadian-drag-news/3160.html

I was asked about the lane choice policy for our series. We confirmed that for Stock and Super Stock at both NHRA & IHRA events the current policy for determining lane choice is via a coin toss. We are trying to keep our rules as close as possible to their standards, so we will be doing the same thing.
